All new software reported in eNTRe (link opens new browser window) is eligible for release for public use. To initiate a Software Release of any new or significantly modified software codes, two items must be completed to initiate the request. First, via the eNTRe fill out a New Technology Report (form NTR 1679), and concurrently submit a Software Release Questionnaire to the . The Software Release Agent will send email acknowledgment of software to be reviewed.
As a part of the Software Release Procedure GRC-L-9400-009 the TTPO can assist in transferring and commercializing your software via the following mechanisms:
- Types of Software Release Categories: The types of software releases available through NASA.
- GRC Software Repository (link opens new browser window): Once the code has been approved and if desired, the code could be distributed using TTPO’s repository. Metrics of those who downloaded the software could be provided to on a regular basis. Non-Repository codes need to keep metric data individually and should be reported to TTPO on a quarterly basis.
- Partnerships: Most frequently, partnerships are formalized by entering into Space Act Agreements. These agreements provide a way for NASA to partner with industry, foundations, universities and other non-Government organizations, as well as other Government agencies. In these agreements, no goods or services are provided to NASA. Instead, NASA provides data, facilities, services, and personnel to the paying party. Space Act Agreements are created using the Space Act Agreement Maker (link opens new browser window) which is only available to onsite innovators. Offsite innovators should contact anyone on TTPO’s partnership team.
